SUMMARY:Copperplate Engraving & Printing at the Paul Revere House
DESCRIPTION:During the American Revolution\, copperplate engravings played a critical role in political discourse\, as one of the major ways to reproduce images for news stories or political cartoons. In addition to his work as a silversmith\, Paul Revere also made money and exercised his political voice by creating engravings\, such as his famous print of the Boston Massacre. \nJoin us for a 90-minute workshop to learn more about 18th-Century printmaking techniques and Paul Revere’s work as an engraver! Participants will view images created by Paul Revere\, and will create their own engraving using a modern version of Revere’s printmaking techniques\, which they can also re-create at home. Each participant will leave the workshop with a small engraved copper plate and several printed copies of their engraving. \nThis workshop is limited to 10 participants\, ages 16 and up. Registration is $20 (includes all necessary materials) and can be completed on Eventbrite.
