The Tailor’s Craft

September 14 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

A man in brown colonial clothing holding a strip of paper and peering at it in front of a table covered in a green cloth.

Clothing historian Henry Cooke takes on the role of an early Boston tailor, perhaps one like Paul Revere’s brother, John Revere. Watch as he “takes the measure” of visitors, then sits cross-legged, fashioning waistcoats from luxurious fabrics and “slops” from coarse weaves. Find out how the 1774 closure of the Port of Boston affected residents’ clothing options!
